Perfectionism — The Exhausting Standard

Perfectionism is not the same as having high standards. High standards allow for failure, for learning, for effort that falls short of the goal and still has value. Perfectionism does not. It operates on a binary: perfect or worthless. There is no middle ground.

Burnout — the pasta that keeps cooking

Burnout is not simply exhaustion. It is the collapse of a person who has overextended across a sustained period, often without adequate support from the other areas of life. Removing someone from the environment that caused it does not stop the process.
