The wound underneath

Much of what arrives in the consulting room as an eating problem, a drinking problem or an anxiety that will not settle is, underneath, a wound: something that happened, or happened repeatedly, and was never allowed to be spoken. In Kuwait, where privacy is precious and the cost of being seen is high, trauma tends to stay buried longest, managing itself through food, work, or substances until it no longer can.

Dr Philippe Jacquet has practised EMDR for more than twenty years, alongside Jungian analysis and art therapy for what cannot yet be put into words. He works with clients in Kuwait by secure video, in English and French, on Kuwait time, with the same preparation, containment and pacing as at Harley Street: the work goes at the pace you can bear, and no faster. Because his practice spans trauma, eating disorders and addiction, what usually needs three clinicians is held in one confidential relationship.

On how this approach thinks about trauma: the hole where the story should be. A first conversation is confidential and without commitment. Book here.

Common questions

Is EMDR available in Kuwait?

Yes, online: Dr Philippe Jacquet has practised EMDR for more than twenty years and delivers it by secure video to clients in Kuwait, in English and French, with the same protocols and careful preparation used at his Harley Street practice in London.

Does EMDR work online?

Yes, when it is done properly: the bilateral stimulation is adapted to the screen, the stabilisation phases are respected, and the pace follows you. Online EMDR has been widely practised and studied since 2020, and the privacy of your own home is, for many clients in Kuwait, exactly what makes the work possible.

Is it confidential?

Completely. The work is independent and based in London: nothing touches your local medical record, employer or family without your explicit consent. For trauma especially, that separation is often the condition for speaking at all.

How does trauma connect to food and addiction?

Very directly: much of what looks like an eating problem or a drinking problem is a regulation problem, and underneath the regulation problem there is often a wound. Because Dr Jacquet works across trauma, eating disorders and addiction, all three can be treated in one confidential relationship.
