Counselling and Psychotherapy in Marbella
The distinction between counselling and psychotherapy is real, though it is often presented in ways that obscure more than they clarify. Counselling tends to work at the level of the presenting problem — the current difficulty, the concrete change someone wants to make, the immediate circumstances that have become unmanageable. Psychotherapy works at greater depth: it is concerned not just with what is happening but with why, and with what is being carried from the past into the present without the person necessarily knowing it.
At this practice, the two approaches are not competing options. They exist on a continuum, and the work moves between them according to what is actually needed — which changes as the clinical picture becomes clearer. What holds constant is the quality of the relationship, the rigour of the clinical thinking, and the seriousness with which whatever arrives in the room is taken.
The Practitioner
Dr Jacquet is an integrative psychotherapist and Jungian analyst with 25 years of clinical experience, trained and practising at Harley Street. He is EMDR-trained for over 20 years, a trained art psychotherapist, an addiction specialist, and the only person in Europe to hold a doctorate focused on male eating disorders. In Marbella, the clinical standard is equivalent to what is available in London.
What This Addresses
The practice works with the full range of difficulties that bring people to therapy: anxiety and depression, trauma and its aftermath, addiction, eating disorders, relationship difficulty, grief, and the subtler but equally real experience of a life that has lost its connection to meaning. Where concerns are complex or co-occurring, they are addressed together.
