Anxiety and Depression Therapy in Paris

In Paris — where the cultural expectation of intellectual composure and social grace runs deep — anxiety and depression tend not to present as obvious dysfunction. They arrive as overwork that can no longer stop, as the glass of wine that has become two or three, as the flattening of experience that makes beautiful surroundings feel remote, as the performance of being fine that has become so habitual it is no longer clear what lies beneath it.

This practice offers therapy for anxiety and depression to English-speaking clients in Paris. The approach is integrative and depth-oriented — concerned not just with symptom management but with what the anxiety or depression is communicating about the person’s relationship with themselves and their life.

The Clinical Approach

Dr Jacquet is a Jungian analyst and integrative psychotherapist. The Jungian perspective holds that anxiety and depression are not malfunctions but communications — from a self that is responding, often very reasonably, to conditions it cannot sustain. That reframing changes the clinical work considerably. Rather than asking how to eliminate the symptom, the work asks what the symptom is trying to say, and what change in the person’s life or relationship with themselves might make it unnecessary.

Where a traumatic history underlies the presentation — which is more common than is generally recognised — EMDR may be incorporated. Philippe is an EMDR practitioner with over 20 years of experience.
