Paris counselling and
psychotherapy
Everyone faces challenges or
problems in their lives. Some are easily overcome alone, while some require
help from friends or relatives. However, there are certain issues that require specialist
help from a professional.
What problems require that
extra help depends on the individual and the specifics of the case. Some people
can manage their emotions around work stress themselves, but need more help
coming to terms with the loss of a parent. Others will be able to cope with the
death of a parent with support from other family members but will need help to
deal with losing their job.
Our reactions to these
things will depend on things like how sustained the stress is, whether the loss
was sudden, and about a billion other things that vary from person to person
and situation to situation. It’s also unhelpful to judge whether you need help
with a situation based on whether someone else needed help. You are not them
and that’s okay.
There is certainly nothing
wrong with asking for help. It’s actually one of the bravest things you can do.
Our English speaking
counselling and psychotherapy service
At Philippe Jacquet &
Associates, we understand that it can be hard to seek help for mental health or
relationship issues. First, there is still a regrettable stigma around seeking
help for these problems, but it can also be the case that you’ve been suffering
so long, you don’t remember a time when you didn’t feel like this.
This is compounded even more
if you live in a country where you aren’t fluent in the language, so you worry
about seeking help and not being able to communicate effectively. That’s why we
created an English-speaking counselling clinic for people in Paris,
Ile-de-France.
Here, you can access therapy
without worrying about a language barrier. We offer therapy sessions online
from our London offices via Skype or WhatsApp.
We find that the online
sessions are as effective (and potentially more effective for some people) than
regular counselling. It is especially useful to those who travel frequently for
work, live abroad, have difficulty travelling for sessions, or would like to
ensure their anonymity even more so.
If you’re looking for
English speaking counselling in France, then please give us a call on either of
the following numbers (+44 7809 668193 / +44 7809 668193) or email us. Don’t
suffer in silence.
What kind of issues do we
help with?
Our English-speaking
counselling service can help you manage almost any type of mental health or
interpersonal relationship issues, but here are some of the most common that we
see:
• Relationship issues
• Confidence building in your personal or professional life
• Depression
• Mid-life crises and the search for meaning
• Anxiety
• Addictions, including smoking, drugs, gambling, and sex
• Stress
• Bereavement
• Phobias, including a fear of flying or a fear of public
speaking
• Eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia, and binge
eating
Of course, many people find
that their issues do not fit neatly into one of the categories. It can often be
the case that you are suffering from more than one problem and that these
issues exacerbate each other. For example, someone who is struggling with a
mid-life crisis may also be suffering from stress at work or have been recently
bereaved, which is causing depression and anxiety. Tackling just one of the
issues may not be enough to deal with the problem effectively and so a combined
approach is usually needed.
Summary of services offered
online
At Philippe Jacquet &
Associates, we offer a range of services for people experiencing mental health
or interpersonal relationship issues. The treatment plan will be based on the
patient’s reason for seeking help, their physical ability, and what types of
mental health treatment they wish to undergo.
That last point is
particularly important. Our founder Philippe Jacquet believes that while a
counsellor may be an expert in mental health issues or their school of thought
regarding therapy, which in his case in Jungian Analysis, the person
experiencing issues is the sole expert in their own lives.
With that in mind, let’s
give you an idea about the sort of therapies that you can expect at our
international counselling service.
Counselling
This is often a shorter
treatment to address a specific problem in a patient’s life that cannot be
worked through alone or with the help of friends and family, say bereavement
counselling after losing a loved one.
Counselling, which can take
place in individual or group settings or both, helps you work through problems.
The counsellor cannot provide any definitive answers because, as with any
mental health treatment, there is no magic cure, but they can provide new ideas
and perspectives that will help you find a way to address the issue yourself.
Some of the issues that are
best suited to counselling are interpersonal issues, like marital problems,
disputes with a boss, or even issues with your parents.
Psychotherapy
There is much that is not
known about psychotherapy by the layperson, which means that those gaps often
get filled by sensationalist media portrayals. Psychotherapy is actually a
positive and effective form of treatment because it allows people to learn
about themselves by talking with a professional about their lives.
Through this, a person comes
to understand how their beliefs are unconsciously shaping their thoughts,
feelings, and actions. These beliefs will have been shaped by your lived
experiences and by the beliefs of those around you. In this safe space, people
can examine why they hold problematic beliefs and whether these beliefs are
true, which can help to change their outlook and therefore their behaviour.
For example, if you saw that
your parents had a rocky relationship or you were cheated on in your teens, it
may be affecting your marriage now, without you even realising it.
Hypnotherapy
As with psychotherapy,
hypnotherapy is not well understood outside of medical circles. When most
people think of hypnosis, they think of an entertainer who makes their
volunteers cluck like a chicken on stage. That is nothing like hypnotherapy.
Our highly-trained
hypnotherapists will put you into a relaxed state where your unconscious mind
will be more open to suggestions. The session will be discussed in detail
beforehand, with the therapist taking their lead from you about the suggestions
you want to have. To be clear, you will not be asleep and you don’t have to
take any suggestion that you do not want to take. In fact, you can even break
yourself out of a trance yourself if you want to.
Art Therapy
This is a mode of
self-expression that allows a patient to communicate through creating something
and is especially useful when treating patients who thrive on doing, rather
than talking. By focusing on the creative, rather than destructive, it can
allow the mind to understand and overcome challenges.
An example of its use at our
Paris counselling clinic is by getting someone to draw how they feel when they
are experiencing the issue that they came to us with, so if a patient was
struggling with binge eating, they might be asked to depict how they feel after
a binge.
Business Coaching
This confidential one-on-one
treatment will give you a guide (or coach) to help you through problems or
challenges at work. Effectively, they will act as a sounding board and provide
you with the different perspectives and scenarios to allow you to make the best
decision for you. It also helps you understand how you can change your
behaviour to get better results at work.
Using multiple therapies
As part of our integrative
approach, we may well combine the approaches to see if the mixture is more
helpful for the patient. For example, if someone were to come to us with
anxiety related to their job, we might give them counselling, but we can also
try art therapy to tap into their creative side or bespoke business coaching to
help them attain goals.
Highly experienced
counselling service in Paris, France
If you’re in Paris, or
elsewhere in France we’re here to help you. Our online counselling and
psychotherapy service is designed with the individual patient in mind, because
what works for one person may have no effect on another, so no two therapy
sessions are truly alike. That’s the thing to really take away from here; our
approach is entirely centred around you and your problems. If an approach
doesn't work, we will change it to suit you. You are in the driving seat and
you are in control.
